The U.S. Department of Education has released a Comprehensive Program Announcement for the Fund for the Improvement of Post-secondary Education (FIPSE). Details are here. Proposals are due May 5, 2008.
Invited topics include:
1. Encouragement of higher levels of access, persistence, and completion of graduation requirements;
2. Alignment of curricula between high schools and colleges and between two-year and four-year post-secondary programs;
3. Improvement of mathematics and science proficiency, including pre-service math and science teachers;
4. Proficiency in Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Russian, and languages in the Indic, Iranian, and Turkic languages.
5. Establishment, improvement, or expansion of professional science master's degree programs, involving industry partners.
